Today was a banner day!  We found our first "new" egg from one of the new laying hens.  We should be on track for starting to sell eggs in the middle of August.  We also moved our meat chicks outside and they are now happily munching clover in the new chicken-mobile which will keep them safe from predators and move around the farm to fresh grass every few days.  These chickens will start putting on weight quickly and should be ready by mid- September.

The kids and I also had a great time shopping today -- all in Granby.  We got tomatoes, garlic and eggplant from the Garlic Farm, milk and goat cheese from Sweet Pea dairy.  A great selection of meat from Hemlock Knoll, and corn, bell pepper and cucumber from the Wilhelm Farm, and finally we picked blueberries at the pick-your-own on North Granby Road.  Delicious!  We've already been snacking and are looking forward to dinner :)

Well, Summer Session is almost half over and we've been having a blast!  We've been riding horses, checking the chicken coop for signs of new eggs, exploring the brook and tie dying t-shirts!  Our session IV (July 20-24) is sold out, but we have two sessions after that still have slots available.  There's no better way to spend your summer than enjoying and discovering animals and nature.

Even as we enjoy the summer, I'm thinking ahead to fall.  I'll be scheduling daytime lessons for the first time starting the second week of September.  Perfect for home-schoolers, at home moms who want to start or get back into riding, or anyone with a flexible schedule.  Lessons will be scheduled between 10am-1pm Tuesday -Thursday.

Our fryer chickens have arrived!  Humanely raised, these grass and grain fed chickens should be ready by the end of September.  Contact us if you are interested.
