Lost Acres Vineyard is a sustainable farm winery situated on a 65 acre farm owned by Granby residents, Kevin Riggott and Michelle Niedermeyer.  An apple orchard in the late 50's, this land is being reclaimed for agriculture.  Utilizing sustainable growing methods as defined by Cornell University's VineBalance program, this land will be transformed into a 5 acre vineyard.

LOST ACRES ORCHARD

Picture
Lost Acres Orchard is located in the beautiful hills of North Granby, Connecticut. The orchard has been owned and operated by the Wutka family for almost 30 years. In the fall there are wagon rides, pick-you-own apples, cider pressing, colorful mums and pumpkins for sale. Our farmstore, built in the fall of 1998, offers fresh baked goods, our own wonderful jams and jellies, Connecticut maple syrup, soups, quiche and, of course, our famous apple pies. The farmstore is open year round.

LYRIC HILL FARM

Picture
At Lyric Hill Farm, we love soap; the plants and goats we tend are the foundation for our all natural handcrafted soaps. Our soaps are made from a proprietary blend of luxury food grade oils and fair trade butters, filtered rain water, our own fresh goat milk, infusions from our own organic herbs and flowers and pure steam distilled (not solvent extracted) essential oils.  We never use any synthetic dyes or fragrances. Lyric Hill soaps are colored with herbs, spices and edible goodies like chocolate and vanilla.  We choose our ingredients carefully to compose a bar of soap that is good for your senses and skin.

GRANBY AGRICULTURE

Picture
Granby’s rural character has its roots in the tradition of New England agriculture: the small farm, the fruit orchard and the dairy.Today, we are unique in the Farmington Valley in both the number of working farms as well as the variety of agricultural businesses. We are home to dairy farms, goat farms, horse ranches, equestrian centers, orchards and beef cattle. This diversity makes Granby special.

Local farms provide more than fresh food. Supporting local farms helps preserve local farmland and benefits both farmers and consumers in many ways:
 - Preserve heritage and culture
 - Economic development
 - Quality of life
 - Tourism
 - Environmental responsibility
 - Food security
