FARM STORE NOW OPEN 8AM-6PM

Picture
Our Farm Store is now open every day 8am-6pm.  Stop by our self-serve shop for our own grass fed beef, pasture raised eggs, and pasture raised pork.  Why buy grass fed and pasture raised meat?  Eat Wild.com says:  "A major benefit of raising animals on pasture is that their products are healthier for you. For example, compared with feedlot meat, meat from grass-fed beef, bison, lamb and goats has less total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and calories. It also has more vitamin E, beta-carotene, vitamin C, and a number of health-promoting fats, including omega-3 fatty acids and “conjugated linoleic acid,” or CLA."  Read more at www.eatwild.com.  The Farm Store is freshly stocked with beef.  Come pick up one of our Grab and Go bags.  Shopping made easy:  one bag includes 4 recipes and all the beef you need to make them.

The store accepts cash and checks.

CHRISTMAS TREES

Maple View Farm sells fragrant locally grown Christmas trees from their front paddock from the weekend after Thanksgiving until Christmas eve.  Tree lot hours are 8am-8pm.  Enjoy the fragrant locally grown trees starting at $30.  E-mail us in advance to reserve your 9' or taller Christmas tree.
THE TREE LOT WILL OPEN ON NOVEMBER 25, 2011  BUY LOCAL!

WHY BUY A FRESH CUT TREE?1.  Real Trees are a renewable, recyclable resource. Artificial trees contain non-biodegradable plastics and possible metal toxins such as lead.
2.  There are more than 4,000 local Christmas Tree recycling programs throughout the United States.
3.  For every Real Christmas Tree harvested, 1 to 3 seedlings are planted the following spring.
4.  Trees absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen while they are growing.

KEEP YOUR TREE FRESH:
1.  Make a fresh cut.  Take an additional 1 inch off the bottom and place in water immediately.
2.  Place the tree in a stand that can hold at least 1 gallon of water and keep giving it water until it stops drinking.
3.  Always keep your tree base covered with water.  If it dries out, resin will form over the bottom and it will not drink up more water.  You don't need anything other than tap water to keep your tree hydrated.
4.  Follow all these steps and your tree should last 5 weeks or more.

Here's what the National Christmas Tree Association has to say about:
Balsam Fir:  As a Christmas tree, balsam fir has several desirable properties. It has a dark-green appearance, long-lasting needles, and attractive form. It also retains its pleasing fragrance. Nine to ten years in the field are required to produce a 6-7 foot tree.
